Premier Co-op
Keep More Money in Your Pocket
Every fall I watch the same thing happen in farm shops across our territory. The combine runs hard, the calendar flips to October, and winter sneaks up like a barn cat on a mouse. The m...
Harvest is just getting underway across much of our trade area, and with it comes one of the busiest times of the year for both our members and employees. As combines begin rolling and trucks start moving, I want to encourage everyone to make safety a top priority. Taking a few extra minutes to slow down, communicate clearly, and remain focused can help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe throughout the season.
Whether it’s coordinating grain deliveries, lining up trucking, planning storage needs, or discussing marketing opportunities, early communication helps our team serve members more efficiently during the busiest weeks of the year. Our employees are committed to working alongside you to make this harvest season as smooth and successful as possible.
One example of that commitment is the grain expansion currently underway at Westby. While maybe not quite as far along as we had hoped to start the season, significant progress continues to be made on the project. The first phase of the project which includes high-speed receiving and drying are getting close. While construction projects are never without challenges, the progress made this year will position Premier to better serve members during future harvest seasons with improved efficiency, increased capacity, and enhanced grain handling capabilities.
As harvest begins, many producers are also facing another challenge: uncertainty. Volatility continues to impact many areas of agriculture, particularly fuel and fertilizer markets. Input costs, global supply chains, weather events, and market conditions can all influence availability and pricing. While none of us can control these factors, they affect the decisions producers are making every day and can create hesitation when planning for the season ahead.
This is where the value of a strong cooperative partnership becomes important. Our role is not simply to provide products and services. It is to help members navigate changing conditions, identify opportunities, manage risk, and make informed decisions for their operations. Whether that means discussing fertilizer purchasing strategies, energy needs, grain marketing alternatives, or planning for next year’s crop, our goal is to be a trusted partner for our members.
As we close out another fiscal year, I want to thank our members for their continued support and partnership. We understand that staying current on accounts is not always easy, particularly during periods of market uncertainty. We sincerely appreciate the effort our members make to meet their obligations and keep their accounts current. Those efforts help maintain the financial strength of the cooperative and allow us to continue investing in the services, facilities, and people that support our member-owners.
Thank you for your business, your trust, and your membership. We appreciate the opportunity to serve your operation and look forward to working alongside you throughout harvest and beyond.
